Just taking a moment to meditate on Scott Draves' initial decision to share the flame... I wonder if we'd see the preponderance of fractal flame art that there is today if his decision had been different?  I, for one, am glad that he shared.

Here's his video on The Open Source Culture of the Flame:

Thanks for sharing Scott!

It's too bad he didn't pass on any credit to the original inventor of IFS, Hutchinson (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iterated… ) ... and that he sells the artworks other people make and render as his own for 10s of thousands of dollars: www.scottdraves.com/for-sale.h…

He also quite badly ripped off the co-author of flam3, who did most of the actual programming work, Erik Reckase. The flam3 generalisations are not even that significant; it could be argued that his main contribution was popularising the technique.

Nevertheless, I'm also glad he wrote and released that paper, and to academics whose mathematical methods I use in Chaotica that are not derived from flam3.
